Whimsical Winter Weddings

Chilly crisp air and crunching leaves underfoot, Caswell House is just wondrous in winter. We love seeing misty mornings across the moat, and the first showing of frost amongst the glorious gardens. What better setting could there be for a whimsical winter wedding?

Caswell at Christmas

We love all the wonders of winter, especially the cosiness of Caswell at Christmas! Our grand Christmas tree stands tall in Bartletts barn, decked in glittering decorations. The traditional festive wreaths hang upon the doors – we adored last years sophisticated creations from Fabulous Flowers.

Christmas can influence styling and décor throughout a winter wedding, from subtle mistletoe sprigs nestled in napkin pockets, or a sparkling display of stockings as a table plan feature.

Let there be light

Shorter days and darker nights are a blessing in disguise for any winter wedding – think dramatic lighting framing dark silhouettes, the historic loggia backlit for the most beautiful photography.

The black winter skies create the perfect opportunity for statement lighting. From oversized lanterns filling the windows to the gentle glow of candle votives, lighting makes for the most of magical of décor. Why not festoon the barns in fairy-lights – we love this incredible installation from our exclusive partner Oakwood Events.

Textured table-scapes

The change in seasons is an excellent excuse to bring all the beauty of outside in. Frosty winter foliage creates beautiful textured tablescapes. Classic wreaths filled with all that nature has to offer; gorgeous green foliage, deep red berries and burgundy blooms. Or why not ice white florals interspersed with sparkling, snow dusted branches.

Polly from Indulgence shares her thoughts…

“Winter lends itself beautifully to feasting creating a fun, buzzy atmosphere and is a lovely way to get family and friends chatting to each other as the boards are passed around. Fine dining is wonderfully elegant and a traditional way to serve your Wedding Breakfast. Our seasonal favourite is Pork with Braised Red Cabbage & Honey Winter Roots – a delicious winter warmer! Caswell House is simply stunning during the Winter, and our food creations reflect this wonderful celebratory season”

With the ice-kissed grounds and cosy Cotswold barns, Caswell House is magnificent & magical for a winter-time wedding.
